Visited the ruins of an ancient civilization, my Google Reader feed from c. 2010. Came across names of addresses and old streets in my personal Pompeii, (before the volcano of Twitter and iPhones and social media ruined that sprawl).
That internet is dying, blogs being erased, their writers now elder millennials dispersed temporally and physically.
We now worry about schools and parents and mutual funds.
What changed? We still write emails for work, but the indulgence of penning thoughts on a blog is too much… effort.
The walk down the ruins made me think… the effort in one’s 20s came quite effortlessly. Words flowed freely (even if just as awkwardly)
Now life is various sets of To Do lists, largely ignored.
